Our Finance Committee has “Grace’d” us with an update

As a reminder, the members of the Finance Committee are Owen Dennis, Katie Howes, Jana Cleverley, Lyden Price, Bev Janzen and Karen Reimer. Our purpose is to monitor the financial status of Grace Baptist Church and make recommendations to the Elder Board concerning financial matters. In addition to monitoring the daily financial activity of GBC, one of the main annual tasks that the committee assists with is the compilation of the annual budget and organizing our financial campaigns.

We are currently running a campaign called “Greater Things Are Still to Come 2.0” (GTSTC 2.0) that is open for contributions until the end of May 2023. The donations given to this fund will be split 50/50 between the mortgage and our building renewal. Our total contributions to this campaign, as of January 2023, was approximately $41,600.

With half of your contributions, we are hoping to have the funds to pay off the remainder of our mortgage which is due for renewal in May 2023.  The balance that will be outstanding in May will be approximately $56,000, before utilizing the GTSTC 2.0 funds.

The other half of the GTSTC 2.0 funds will be used for costs related to the operation of our building.  The main use of these funds is the purchase of a new sound system. The sound system has been a need for a while now and, with the purchase of a new system, we should see an improved and more consistent sound quality in the sanctuary.  The full cost of the system is expected to be in excess of $150,000.  Excitingly, the new system has been ordered and the installation date is expected to be sometime mid-year of 2023.  Other significant costs related to the operation of the building include maintenance and replacement of HVAC systems.

Some prayers that we, as the Finance Committee, would love for you to keep on the forefront of your minds are:

  • Praise for the resources that God has faithfully provided and continues to provide to GBC.
  • Pray that GBC will be a good steward of the resources that we have been provided to best further God’s Kingdom.
