CASP

Albert Park/Radisson Heights Community After-School program (CASP) is a local, non-profit, licensed, after school program that was founded to meet a gap in services for families in the Albert Park/Radisson Heights areas since 1998.

In a recent community survey, there was an assessed need in our community for quality, safe and affordable childcare in the critical hours after school. The result of that need was CASP.  Now these children and youth from Albert Park/Radisson Heights Community are provided that safe, supervised and accessible environment after school.

ABOUT US

CASP exists to foster a caring and compassionate community for children to recognize their significance and purpose through learning, creativity and fun in a safe environment during the hours after school.

At CASP our goal is to create a place where children feel that they are significant and belong. CASP recognizes and accepts children’s individuality, cultural diversity and their developmental level. At CASP we want to enhance feelings of mutual respect, acceptance and caring among children, youth and adults.

CASP has access to multiple classrooms, a gymnasium and outdoor parks within walking distance. CASP provides a wide variety of activities for the children to participate in such as literacy activities, a variety of clubs, physical activities, weekly special events and lessons/activities on social/emotional learning developed by PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies). PATHS is a social and emotional learning curriculum that CASP has introduced into its programming to help children develop their social/emotional skills, to learn how to problem solve and to understand why and what they are feeling.

Staff

CASP staff are paid, certified and trained professionals who have a heart and love for children. Staff will continually participate in professional development to develop their skills.

Registration and Information

Registration is based upon the referral of the Resource Teacher from Radisson Park Elementary or if you live in the Albert Park/ Radisson Heights Area. If a child is returning to CASP at the start of the school year, a parent/guardian will register him/her at the end of June. A newsletter will confirm the date in June. If there is space left, new families may register their child. You can fill out the registration form and read the parent handbook ahead of time using the links below.

1. Download CASP Parent Handbook

2. Download Registration Form

3. Return the Registration Form and final page of the Parent Handbook to CASP

Because of the need for our After-School Program and our limited space, we will call to confirm if the child is accepted into CASP or not. If there is a lack of space, a child will be put on a wait list.

PLEASE NOTE: the families who are the priority are those who need our services for ALL the following reasons:

1. Children will be at CASP 4 - 5 days a week and will stay until 5PM

2. Families who have no one home between the hours of 3PM - 5PM to care for their child(ren) 4 - 5 days a week

3. Families who live in the Albert Park/Radisson Heights Community

4. Families who may need financial assistance for childcare and may be eligible for the childcare subsidy

We strongly encourage you to apply for the childcare subsidy. The staff can help you fill out the childcare subsidy forms during registration or you can go on-line. If you are unfamiliar with the Alberta Childcare Subsidy program, please ask or go to https://www.alberta.ca/child-care-subsidy.aspx.
